At the 2010 ISI District 9 Championships, the Rec-Plex skaters claimed the "Boyd Wietecter District 9 Champions" trophy for the eighth year in a row! Skaters and teams who represent the Rec-Plex at an ISI competition in District 9 or at an ISI National Event earn points for the Rec-Plex. At the District Championships, points from the previous calendar year are totalled. The Boyd Wietecter trophy is awarded to the rink with the most points. Individual skaters earn one participation point per event, while teams earn five. Skaters placing first individually earn five points, while first place teams earn 25. Individual skaters placing second earn four, and teams placing second earn 20, and so on. This is quite an accomplishment by all of our competitors. We are proud of each and every one of them!

Two Synchro St. Louis teams - the Diamond Edges and the Ice Gems - competed in the 2010 US Figure Skating Midwestern/Pacific Coast Synchronized Skating Sectional Championships, held in Cedar Rapids, IA, January 28-30, 2010. The Diamond Edges placed eighth in the Novice Divison, while the Ice Gems were fifth in the Open Juvenile Division.
This was the Diamond Edges first season in the Novice Division, which was comprised of 11 teams. With their increase in level, the Diamond Edges faced tough competition, but the team focused on their own performance by setting team goals. With a clean performance and an increase of more than six points from the Dr. Porter competition, the goal was achieved and a personal best score was earned.
For the Ice Gems, this was their second season in the Open Juvenile category, and they were excited to perform their more difficult program this season. As one of 26 teams, they poured their hearts into their performance and delivered a clean program which earned second place ordinals from two of the seven judges.
The SPFSA is proud of both teams! Great job on a successful USFS season!
